On the evolution and limitations of data science notebooks: The concept of computational notebooks has been around since the 80’s. Possibly, Matlab was one of the first ones. Although, I’m sure that Steve Wolfram would disagree: Mathematica was first! :-)

Then in the early 2000’s, SageMath (anyone remembers it?) was released as an open-source alternative…
